Martha the mouse and her friends Owl, Ted, Fliss, Squirrel, Rabbit, and Fox decide to have a fun day out in Crickledown Wood.

They meet at the duck pond on a sunny morning, stopping to chat with the Beavers by the stream on their way. But while crossing the open field, Martha has a close call! The whole day is about to take an unexpected turn. When the gang arrives at the woods, they huddle together to come up with a plan to help their friend Martha.
